Create Delay Entries

Background

The Delays section allows you to track any delays that occur or exist during the day.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • To create entries:

      • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Daily Log tool.

    • To create pending entries as a collaborator:

  • Additional Information:

    • The Delays section must be enabled for the project.

    • You can add custom delay types for the project, as well as disable or enable types.

    • There is no limit to the number of delays you can create for a day. However, if you want to enter a delay that lasts over 24 hours, you will need to enter it on each day it impacts.

    • Users with 'Admin' permission to the project's Directory tool can enable Delay email notifications for other users.

    • Delays in the Daily Log can be reported on in the Project and Company level Reports tools.

    • If you want to enter weather delays, you can also use the Observed Weather Conditions section.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Daily Log tool.

  2. Scroll to the Delays section.
    You can also use the left navigation menu to quickly navigate to the Delays section.

  3. To create an entry, add information to the fields.

    Note: Click the caret icon > to expand and v to collapse the field names and their descriptions below.

    Delays - Field Names and Descriptions

    • Company: Select the company name for which you are creating this log entry.

    • Delay Type: Select the type of delay.
      Note: You can manage the delay types using the Configure Settings icon. See Configure Daily Log Advanced Settings.

    • Start Time: Select the delay start time using the hour and minute dropdown menus.

    • End Time: Select the delay end time using the hour and minute dropdown menus.

    • Duration (Hours): A read-only field that displays the duration (in hours - which is calculated based on start Time and End Time values. This field displays the duration automatically after saving your entry.

    • Location: Select a location of the project where the delay occurred. See Add Tiered Locations to a Project.

    • Comments: Enter any comments or additional information that further describes the entry (if required).

    • Attachments: Attach any additional files to the entry. To attach the files, do one of the following:

      • Click Attach File(s) and then drag-and-drop a file from your computer to the Drag and Drop your File(s) area.
        OR

      • Click Upload Files to select a file from your computer.

  4. Click Create.

    The log entry is created or added.
